Loving the Prisoner. Calling them to Faith. Equipping them for Ministry.

InsideOUT Prison Ministry works to meet the challenges facing individuals caught in the cycles of incarceration and re-entry through committed and structured support.  We work in the St. Louis, Missouri area to both advocate for and empower men and women trapped in the criminal justice system through outreach, relationship building, discipleship and transitional care.  We encourage them through all of these efforts to embrace their God-given call to bless their families, their communities and this world with their gifts.

The United States is the most incarcerated country in the world and the likelihood of a person who has been incarcerated to return to jail or prison is 77% within the first five years of release.  At the same time St. Louis is often touted as one of the most violent cities in the world and often occupies the underwhelming position as the butt of many jokes.  We believe that the hope for our city and our country actually lies in the hands of many of the same individuals caught in the cycles of trauma, poverty, violence, and substance abuse that often land them in jails, court rooms, and prisons time and again because we believe that God is so committed to them, this city and this country that he has chosen them for this very task.  We are simply showing up, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and letting the Holy Spirit do his thing.  You can read more about what he’s been up to on our blog.

Vision Statement

Binding the hearts of the church and the prisoner, in the love of Jesus Christ, to provide hope, healing, and to equip their hearts for ministry.

Mission Statement

InsideOUT provides hope and healing to prisoners and returning citizens because we believe that Christ has called us to “visit the prisoner” and “love our enemies” to the point that they become our friends and then to care for them holistically as the brothers and sisters in our Lord they have become.  By God’s grace we do this weekly through jail and prison outreach and discipleship classes inside and outside both local and state facilities, as well as through relationship building between them and various local churches through letter writing and one-on-one counseling and finally through the transition and addiction care of these men and women upon their release.
